I am Hyuma Mahadevia
I live in Ahmedabad with my wife Jyoti and our daughters, Prisha and Misha. I am the Managing Director of Yamir Packaging Pvt. Ltd., our family business.
I hold an MBA in Finance, I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, and I took my Diploma in Offset Printing Technology in Germany. I am an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, and one of the courses I took there turned into The Ethical Leader’s Gita.
How the book began
For years I owned a Bhagavad Gita and understood almost none of it. I would open it, read a few verses, feel vaguely improved, and put it back. This went on longer than I care to admit.
Then I took a course at IIMA under Prof. Dr. Sunil Maheshwari, who showed me how the Bhagavad Gita is built, how to read a verse and what to do with it. Prof. Dr. Vishal Gupta opened another side of it for me, the way it works on a person psychologically and what it is doing to Arjuna’s mind as the conversation goes on. I had been reading the verses as instruction. After that I could see them working.
My wife Jyoti pushed me past every limit I set and argued about the verses with me for hours. Many of the better ideas in the book began as something she said and I resisted.
I have been the slowest student in a very good classroom. Everything the book gets right, I got from my teachers and my family. Everything else I managed entirely on my own.

I am an IRONMAN. The race is one day, with a 3.8 kilometre open water swim, 180 kilometres on a bicycle and a 42.2 kilometre marathon, back to back, inside seventeen hours. I am also an IRONMAN Certified Coach and I train athletes towards their own running and IRONMAN ambitions, as a way of giving back.
