A Diwali gift for senior management under ₹5,000

Diwali is the one time of year a company gives something to the people who carry it. For most of the team, a hamper does that work well. For senior management, the people who make the decisions and absorb the pressure, a hamper lands a little flat. They receive twenty of them, and by the new year every one is gone.

The ₹5,000 figure is where most gifting budgets for this level sit, and it is also the figure in the Income-tax Rules: a gift in kind from an employer to an employee is a nil perquisite when its aggregate value in the financial year is below ₹5,000. A gift priced just under that line is deliberate, and your finance team will notice the care.

Here is what we would put on the shortlist for a leadership team at Diwali.

Diwali gifts under ₹5,000 for people who lead

  1. A book they will open every morning of the coming year

The Ethical Leader’s Gita puts one verse of the Bhagavad Gita on each page with its meaning and a reflection on leading. Its MRP of ₹4,995 is set to sit inside the limit. From 10 copies it is ₹4,160 a copy delivered, which leaves room in the budget for the next item.

  2. A personal note from you inside it

A bookplate or a handwritten line turns a company gift into a personal one. The book comes with a bookplate on request; the words are yours.

  3. A conversation instead of a thing

For a leadership team of 50 or more, a 90-minute session on the Bhagavad Gita and the decisions a leader faces, in person in Ahmedabad or online, is a Diwali gift that the whole team receives together. It is priced separately from the book.

  4. Timing

Diwali 2026 falls in early November. Copies are dispatched from 26 October 2026, and a bulk order normally takes 12 days from the order, so an enquiry in October reaches desks before the holiday.
